How big can files be?

Without an account you can send up to 2 GB per transfer, with a free account up to 5 GB and with Pro up to 30 GB.

How many files and transfers are possible?

Without an account up to 100 files and 3 transfers per day. With a free account up to 100 files and 5 transfers per day. With Pro up to 400 files and unlimited transfers.

Can I upload whole folders?

Yes. Drag a folder into the upload area or pick it with the file dialog.

Does the window have to stay open during the upload?

Yes, the upload runs in your browser. Keep the window open until the transfer has finished. You can keep working in another tab.

What is the difference between link and email?

With "Link" you get an address that you pass on yourself, for example via chat. With "Email" BigFile sends the transfer straight to your recipients, with a message if you like.

Do my recipients need an account?

No. Recipients open the link and download the files directly.

How long do files stay available?

As long as you set under "Expiry" when uploading. Up to 30 days with Pro, and a transfer can be extended once by 7 days.

Can a transfer be deleted after the first download?

Yes. Switch on "Delete link after first download" in the options.

Is there password protection?

Yes. When it is on, recipients also need the password you set. It is best to share it by a different route than the link.

Why do I have to enter a code when sending by email?

Without an account the code confirms that the sender address belongs to you. That way nobody can send files in your name.

Where are my files stored?

BigFile is a Swiss service and takes data protection very seriously. All the details are in the privacy policy. View the privacy policy

Do I need an account?

No, you can send right away without an account. A free account is worth it if you share files regularly.

What does the free account give me?

Up to 5 GB per transfer, 5 transfers per day, an overview of all your transfers and a notification once something has been downloaded. No credit card.

What does BigFile Pro give me?

Up to 30 GB and 400 files per transfer, unlimited transfers, your own logo and download subdomain, ad-free download pages and up to 30 days of expiry.

How much does Pro cost?

CHF 5.90 per month. The subscription can be cancelled monthly.

How do I cancel Pro?

Directly in the Stripe customer portal in your account. Pro stays active until the end of the paid period.

What happens if a payment fails?

You receive a notice by email and in your account. If the payment is not made up, the account later switches back to Free.
